Who is the community’s developer and operator?
The developer and operator of Seasons at Maplewood is Ecumen, one of the largest non-profit providers of older adult services in the nation. Based in Shoreview, Minnesota, Ecumen owns and/or operates a broad spectrum of more than 75 senior housing communities, primarily in Minnesota, but in Idaho, Indiana, Michigan, North Dakota, Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin as well. Do I sign a lease?
Yes, at Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood, there is a month-to-month lease.Close
Is there a security deposit or an endowment fee?
Yes, we collect a security deposit at lease-signing:
- $1,000 for a studio or 1-bedroom
- $1,500 for a 1-bedroom plus den
- $2,000 for a 2-bedroom
The funds are put into an interest-bearing account and may be refunded upon move-out, dependent upon damage or costs of repairs to the unit.Close
What if I decide to move?
If you decide to move, simply give us a written 30-day notice of your intent to vacate your apartment home.Close
How often will my rent increase?
Ecumen reviews its budgets annually. Over the course of our 150+-year history, we have typically experienced an annual rent increase of roughly 3%. But please know that Ecumen is a non-profit organization: any rent increase is strictly related to an increase in the cost of living—not to pay dividends to shareholders, as is often the case with for-profit communities.Close
What is included in the monthly service fees for Independent Living apartment homes?
The monthly service fee includes: electricity; water; heat; air conditioning; garbage removal; basic satellite television service; Wi-Fi; 30/31 meals per month or one meal per day, with flexible restaurant style dining options; weekly housekeeping including linen change; scheduled transportation services; programmed social, fitness and spiritual activities, 24-hour emergency call service; 24-hour staffing; daily concierge services; interior and exterior maintenance; and use of all community common areas.Close
What is not included in the monthly service fee for an Independent Living apartment home?
Telephone service, premium television subscription fees, underground parking, home health care services, additional meals, and salon services are not included in the monthly service fee.Close

What is a “Personalized Scheduled Care Plan for Daily Living Needs”?
A personalized scheduled care plan is developed and written for every resident of Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood—in collaboration with the resident, their family and physician—and based on their individual daily living needs.Close
Where do I park my vehicle?
Underground parking is available for an additional $50 per month per vehicle.Close
What are the personalized home care services available to Independent Living residents?
The variety of personalized home care service packages we offer is designed to promote independence and keep pace with any changing needs of residents. For those needing a little extra help with the tasks of daily living—now or in the future—we bring the appropriate level of care to you in your apartment home. There is no requirement to move to another apartment home; simply continue to enjoy the comforts of your home and add the services you desire, à la carte and month by month.Close

We offer a full range of personal health care services as customized, monthly home health service packages, including: bathing assistance; dressing and grooming; escort service; medication management; and much more. Please ask us for complete package information and monthly pricing.Close
What if I need a doctor?
All Independent Living residents of Seasons can continue to receive care from the doctors they saw before—we’ll even provide transportation. For the convenience of our residents receiving Assisted Living or Memory Care services, we offer responsive “house call” service through Bluestone Physicians.Close
Is there a washer and dryer in each apartment home?
Each apartment home has its own washer and dryer. Residents of our Memory Care neighborhood receive laundry services as part of their monthly service fee.Close
Are pets allowed?
Yes, well-behaved pets are welcome at Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood. Your pet must be able to abide by the community’s guidelines. A one-time fee is required.Close
Is smoking permitted?
No, Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood is a smoke-free community.Close
If I miss a meal, will I get credit?
We offer one meal per day or 30/31 meals per month to use how you choose. If you are ever away and miss your daily meal(s), you may decide to eat two or three meals per day to equal the 30/31 meals per month. Meals do not carry over from month to month. We offer an extended leave policy for residents who are away from their Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood apartment home for four weeks or more. Please ask for details.Close
Can residents rent the various community spaces for private events?
Yes! When hosting family or friends, you’re welcome to reserve our private dining area or other spaces as a proud extension of your home.Close
What is The Bridge?
The Bridge is a lifestyle option that enables couples to continue to live together in their same residence—even when one spouse requires more assistance or care than the other.Close
Why is it called The Bridge? How is it different from traditional Assisted Living?
The highly personalized care provided within The Bridge “bridges” the gap between each spouse’s needs right within the couple’s private Seasons at Maplewood home—regardless of the combination of Independent Living, Assisted Living or Memory Care services they require.
The Bridge is unlike traditional Assisted Living, which typically requires spouses with differing needs to live apart in neighborhoods designed for residents of similar ability and health status. The Bridge is exceptional, especially when you consider its included Memory Care Respite Program that provides daily relief to a spouse from the strain of caring for a partner with memory impairment or dementia. What is included in the monthly service fee for The Bridge?
The monthly service fee includes: three chef-prepared meals per day; daily snacks; utilities; daily light housekeeping; daily respite care within the Atrium or Garden Court Memory Care program; personal hygiene assistance; assistance with morning and evening dressing and grooming; medication management and administration; assistance with up to two showers per week; escorts to and from meals and activities; scheduled safety and comfort checks; weekly flat linen change; up to three loads of laundry per week; coordination of outside health services; monthly monitoring of vital signs and weight; programmed social, fitness and spiritual activities, 24-hour emergency call service; 24-hour staffing; daily concierge services; interior and exterior maintenance; and use of all community common areas.Close
What is not included in the monthly service fee for The Bridge?
The second occupant fee; telephone service; premium television service; underground parking; additional personal hygiene assistance; additional loads of laundry; diabetes care management; Coumadin management; and other specialized RN/LPN nursing care services are not included in the monthly fee—but are all available à la carte for an additional fee. What is “Daily Respite Care on Memory Care”?
Daily respite care is available for couples where one spouse requires Memory Care but the other spouse does not. It is for couples who benefit from spending portions of their day apart from each other but who still desire to share each other’s companionship in a household together.
Each day, our staff escorts the participating spouse to the Atrium or Garden Court Memory Care program so that both spouses are each free to make the most of their day, engaging in their own enriching and purposeful pursuits and stimulating social opportunities. At the end of each day, both return to the comfort of their shared, private residence—with the peace of mind knowing they have the support and security of 24-hour staff ready to assist if ever needed. Are all medications, and medication management, included in The Bridge?
Your medications are prescribed by your physician and their cost is covered by the pharmacy benefit of your health insurance plan, Medicare prescription drug plan (Part D), or by you as an out-of-pocket expense. Medication management of most medications is included in your monthly service fee: Our resident assistant (RA) staff will administer your medication under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), following your doctor’s orders. Medication ordering and set-up service is included when ordered from our preferred pharmacy provider Thrifty White Pharmacy.
There is an additional charge for Coumadin management, diabetic supplies and insulin management, incontinence supplies, and any specialized services such as vitamin B-12 injections. Please ask us for details when you contact us to schedule a tour.Close
