Gabbi Langan
Executive Director

Gabbi came to Ecumen in 2014, and began her service as Executive Director of Seasons at Maplewood in 2016. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Marketing from Saint Mary’s University in Winona, and her background includes direct care in a group home environment. Gabbi is passionate about getting to know each Seasons at Maplewood resident, family member, and employee, and delivering the best possible experience to each one. In her spare time, Gabbi enjoys hiking with her dog, journaling, singing, and experiencing new venues and restaurants with friends.

Karen Ives
Registered Nurse

Karen came to Ecumen in 2015 as a Registered Nurse and joined the Seasons at Maplewood Team in 2016.  She holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Psychology and Education from Hamline University and an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical University.  Her favorite part about working at Ecumen is having the opportunity to meet and care for the residents and their families.  In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, dining out and reading.  

Mary Jass
Marketing Manager

Mary joined the Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood team in 2015. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology from San Diego State University, and worked for many years in the hospitality industry. Mary began pursuing her passion for working with seniors and their families in 2010 when she became a leasing and marketing director for senior housing. When she’s not working, Mary treasures time spent with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoys container gardening, collecting and reading cookbooks, watching the History Channel, and her dog Sam.

Peggy Sandell
Food and Beverage Director

Peggy's food and beverage service experience spans more than 30 years and a variety of large-scale, detail-oriented venues, including hotels, restaurants, and private country clubs. Peggy joined Ecumen in 2016 as the Food and Beverage Director of our Autumn Leaves Restaurant. She takes great pleasure in applying her skills to enhance the dining experiences of our residents, their families and guests. In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors, gardening and taking long walks with her dog.

Ron Fisher
Executive Chef

Executive Chef Ron Fisher started working at Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood in November of 2016.  He previously worked at Midland Hills Country Club in Roseville, MN and The Lexington Restaurant in St. Paul, MN. Cooking and entertaining friends are high on his list of good times.  Ron also is a die-hard Green Bay Packer fan and enjoys his trips to Lambeau Field to cheer on his team. Ron has a Glen of Imaal Terrier named Bailey who he loves dearly. 

Janet Babcock
Activities Director

Janet has been with Ecumen since 1990, becoming the Activities Director here at Seasons at Maplewood in 2010. A graduate of Bethel College with a major in Social Work and minor in Physical Education, she’s a natural catalyst for helping our community to retain its energetic and highly social atmosphere. Janet loves getting to know each resident, listening to their aspirations, and facilitating resident-driven programming. Janet enjoys outdoor recreation, quilting, and spending time with her family.

Karen Lawrence
Business Office Specialist

Karen Lawrence joined the team as the Business Office Specialist at Lakeview Commons and Seasons at Maplewood in 2017.  She loves meeting and getting to know the residents and staff at both locations.  She appreciates the warm and welcoming feeling at Seasons at Maplewood, and loves coming to work at such a joyful community.   When she is not working she enjoys quilting, knitting, spending time at her cabin in WI, and playing with her new granddaughter. 

Tina Cummins
Resident Services Coordinator

Tina has been the Resident Services Coordinator at Seasons at Maplewood since 2010. Prior to joining Ecumen, she was a certified nursing assistant and a trained medication administrator for more than 20 years. Tina desire to work in senior living was inspired by the loving bond she had with her grandmother. In her spare time, Tina enjoys spending time with family, and spending weekends in Duluth.

Joe Anzel
Human Resources Specialist

Joe has been the Human Resource Specialist with Seasons at Maplewood since 2017. Joe started his career in the Human Resources department at Ecumen’s corporate office as an intern and instantly bought into Ecumen’s vision of changing the perception of aging. Joe holds an Associate’s degree in Business Administration and Management, and is working towards his Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from Concordia University, St Paul. Joe enjoys athletics, being up north, gardening, and spending time with family.

Billy Flanagan
Environmental Services Director

Not including the years of training he got as a child from his grandfather, Billy has worked in the field of mechanics for nearly 20 years. He studied carpentry and auto mechanics throughout high school and college. Billy began specializing in the physical operations and maintenance of senior living communities in 2012, and joined Ecumen in 2014. In his free time, Billy loves spending time with his family, being up north on the lake, and being in the woods. He loves to golf and is a member of a curling league in the winter.

Molly Ellingwood
Concierge/Administrative Assistant

Molly joined Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood in 2014. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications and Spanish from St. Catherine University. Molly’s professional background includes experience in corporate communications, project management and change management. In her role as Concierge/Administrative Assistant at Seasons at Maplewood, Molly has the privilege of partnering with staff to serve our residents and their families. She strives to exceed customer expectations and enjoys welcoming all who enter Seasons at Maplewood. In her spare time, Molly enjoys traveling, reading, and visiting with friends and family.

Reverand Susan Schoon

Susan joined Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood in August of 2017 as Chaplain. She has spent her career as a Lutheran pastor working in Pastoral Care and Visitation Ministries.  Susan has a B.M. degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in Vocal Performance, an MFA from the University of Iowa and a Masters of Divinity from Luther Theological Seminary in St Paul. She is currently working on Clinical Pastoral Education through Allina. Susan loves building relationships with the residents, meeting their spiritual needs through worship, music, leading the “Maple Nuts Choir” and the Staff choir “the Seasoned Nuts”, doing visits, bible studies, and support groups.  She and her husband Tom love visiting their children, cooking together, biking, hiking, going to movies, and traveling to Oregon.
